Lewisham Cyclists Train assisted Essex ride from Shenfield Station
A 50 mile moderate paced social ride in the Essex countryside. The ride leader will be on the 9.03 from London Liverpool St which is meant to arrive at Shenfield around 9.25. We will ride through some pretty Essex villages, mostly on quiet country lanes, but since there are some busier sections this is a ride for experienced riders. However, it will not be fast, we will wait for everyone and there are fewer climbs than on our Kent and Surrey rides. There are a couple of hills and at least one fast descent. We climb hills slowly and do try to stick to a rolling average of around 16kph which means a bit faster than that on the flat and descents. Id like if possible to be back at Shenfield Station for the return train at about 4pm so that should allow plenty of time for a decent lunch stop, photographs etc.
Please make sure you bring spare inner tubes, snacks and weather appropriate clothing. Also ensure your bike is prepared. Sunset is later now, but in case of any issues that might make us later than expected, bring lights for your homeward journey from the station.
