Bike & Beer, Easter Saturday. Train assisted starting from Catford (9:41) to StMaryCray (10.01) then riding out to Chelsfield, Rushmore Hill, High Elms then return via Green Street Green to Orpington. There is a beer festival at Orpington Liberal Club (cyclists welcome) & it’s only 5 minutes from Orpington Station. You’d have to make your own way back from Orpington.

This is classified as a hard ride due to pace and hills. However, we are not a fast group and generally wait for all. To get more information about how we classify our rides, amongst other useful info about rides, check out our https://lewishamcyclists.org.uk/rides/general-ride-information/

A fairly easy, flat ride from Canada Water (Deal Porter Square) to Hyde Park, crossing both Tower Bridge and Westminster Bridge. There are only 2 planned stops: at the Artists’ Garden near Temple and a coffee stop at the Park Sports Cafe in Hyde Park. If we’re quick, we might be able to include a short detour to the Graffiti tunnel near Waterloo, but that will be dependent on time. We should be able to complete the 24km round trip in about 2.5 hours. In order to avoid too much hassle with tourists visiting central London over Easter, we will have an early start at 9.30 am. The planned route is: https://www.komoot.com/tour/2130788567?share_token=am1yUJ9Kh5dtXAyZ7iYAPQDgWSnW3K89az9KBpUVxuvIGmTtxv&ref=wtd

Riders of all ages are welcome on Healthy Rides but under 18s must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Same for “adults at risk”. Always give way to pedestrians and to other cyclists so all path users feel safe. If you cannot make a ride, please cancel so that someone else can take the place.

This ride is part of a regular programme of Saturday rides, more information at https://southwarkcyclists.org.uk/healthy-rides/.

Start 9.30am at Cutty Sark, next to the tunnel entrance. NOTE EARLY START. Hope to finish back at Greenwich at 1.30, but with uncertainties on a long ride please allow for possible 2pm finish. Route out: round Thames path to London Cable Car across river. Note this means we cannot have e-bikes on this ride, sorry. From Victoria Dock on to Beckton Corridor off road path and round past Beckton Alps, bit of cycle path and back streets to Wanstead Park. See if we can find the famed bluebells. Return across Wanstead Flats, quiet streets to Olympic Park, Hertford Union Canal, Regents Canal Towpath/Mile End Park, west side of Isle of Dogs to the Greenwich Foot Tunnel. If the lifts are working, complete ride by crossing to the Cutty Sark. If not, end the ride at the tunnel. Riders who wish to cross will be guided to Mudchute DLR Station where there is step free access. There is also step free access at Greenwich DLR station. Note this is a long route with a lot of continuous riding. We will be at our usual easy pace, but probably cycling for 3 hours +. You get a rest on the Cable Car (remember to bring some way of paying the fare) and a coffee break. Nevertheless worth bringing a snack and a drink. Ride Leader – Amanda.

North Westminster Cycle Saturdays is on the 3rd Saturday of every month meeting at Westminster Wheels, Church Street.

Easy Bike Ride, 11am

Each month there is an easy bike ride led by one of our instructors. This will be a safe and social and fun ride around Westminster and a great way to learn new routes and have an active start to the weekend. These are led by a professional instructor with marshal support from local volunteers. These are aimed at families with kids and also for adults who want to learn new routes in the neighbourhood and get more confidence. You need to bring your own bike to join in. Bring a coat, a drink and some snacks – or some money to buy something when we stop. Please register everyone attending below.

Level 2 & Level 3 cycle skills sessions for Cycle Buddies 11am-1pm

A qualified cycling instructor will be giving a 3-to-1 group cycle session on how to ride confidently on quiet roads (level 2) and busier roads  including sharing space with large vehicles and buses (level 3). This is aimed at Cycle Buddies volunteers and for people who would like to help marshal the family rides.

Bikes available to borrow:

There are a small number of bikes available to borrow from Westminster Wheels, this is at the discretion of the management of the shop and conditions apply.

Timings:

Meet at 11am for a 11:05 start, stop for a break half way, back to Church Street by approximately 12:30. Bring clothes appropriate for the weather, a drink and snack or some money to buy a drink.

Location:

Meet outside Westminster Wheels on Church Street.

Cycle Buddies:

If you are already an experienced cyclist in Westminster, we need volunteers to help marshal the Family Rides and to be Cycle Buddies. If you think this might be you or someone you know, find out more here – Cycle Buddies or contact mike.mcsherry@lcc.org.uk.

The Easter Sunday ride takes us from Croydon on the Wandle Trail, across Wimbledon Common to the Windmill Cafe for an early lunch, sitting out with our bike by the table or in with the bike locked to a hoop. Then on tree lined Ladies Mile to and over Putney Heath and through Roehampton to Richmond Park. We leave the park for Kingston and ride beside the Thames on one of the Thames Path’s most beautiful paths to Richmond and finally Richmond station. There are 4 trains an hour to East Croydon that Sunday.

It is 24 miles. Again 80% or so off-road and the rest side streets.
The ride starts at Queens Gardens CR0 1GY at 10am. We will arrive at the cafe for our refreshment break or early lunch at 11:30. Richmond station by 2:30.

Southwark Council, formed as part of the 1970s local government reorganisation, came into being at Easter 1975. Love them or loathe them it is still an excuse for a bike ride! Werner likes anniversaries so has planned, and will lead, a ride that follows the borough boundary as closely as possible. Start 9am, Southwark Needle, London Bridge. An anticlockwise route takes us first to the Lambeth boundary for a long stetch finishing at the top of Gipsy Hill where we meet Bromley and Croydon. Turn along Crystal Palace Parade where we soon meet Lewisham. We then follow the Lewisham boundary back to the Thames at St Georges Square, just east of South Dock. Follow the river, also of course the boundary, back to London Bridge. We expect to finish at around 1pm after covering about 30km.
